Gussa Cooking Game

OST + Sound Design

Project Summary

Gussa was a cooking-themed game produced by hipbandee around 2015. I was commissioned to create the complete game audio package, including original background music loops and custom sound effects for interactive kitchen gameplay.

The creative direction focused on building a warm, tactile audio palette that matched the game’s playful cooking theme. For the music, I recommended a light, small-ensemble background loop with a samba-inspired feel; something rhythmic and friendly that could support gameplay without becoming distracting. The initial scope included a short looping music track designed to sit comfortably underneath the player’s actions.

The sound design was built around the physicality of a real kitchen. Rather than relying primarily on synthesized effects, I recommended recording many of the game’s sounds as custom foley: utensils, appliances, drawers, cupboards, running water, dough, toppings, vegetables, boiling liquid, and salt and pepper shakers. These sounds were tied directly to gameplay actions such as beating an egg with a fork, pouring liquid into a bowl, opening and closing the fridge and oven, stretching dough, adding ingredients to a pizza, chopping vegetables, and grating food.

Overall, Gussa combined original casual game music with detailed foley-style sound design, creating a playful and practical audio identity for a cooking game built around familiar kitchen actions.
