The SockKids Animated Series

Learn How to Prevent Bullying

Project Summary

The SockKids Animated Series was a children’s animated project produced by Trailer To The Stars for author and creator Michael John Sullivan. The series followed the colorful Socker family through stories built around kindness, diversity, social skills, and anti-bullying messages. In the episode I worked on, “The SockKids Learn How to Prevent Bullying,” the story focused on helping children understand how bullying hurts others and why empathy, acceptance, and positive social behavior matter.

I was brought on to handle the episode’s audio post-production and underscore music. My work included composing, recording, and producing the underscore music, sourcing and designing sound effects, and mixing/mastering the final audio. The opening theme music was contributed by Mike Petrone. My role focused on the extending the opening theme into the episode’s score, sound design, and overall audio polish.

Because the project was created for children, the audio needed to feel warm, friendly, and emotionally clear. The underscore supported the story’s educational tone without overpowering the dialogue, while the sound effects helped bring the animated world to life through small moments of movement, character interaction, and playful timing.

The SockKids property has since continued as SockKids for Kids, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on reaching children through educational stories, donating books, giving away socks, and encouraging positive social skills. The organization describes its mission as sharing fun, educational stories while helping children and promoting kindness.

Overall, The SockKids Animated Series represents my work in children’s animation audio: original underscore, foley-style sound effects, sound design, and final mix/master work for an animated project.
