Project Summary
Slide Rush was a mobile game developed by Hesham Salman that called for original music and custom sound effects to support a polished, fast-moving gameplay experience. I was commissioned to develop the music and audio for the game in 2015. After reviewing gameplay footage, I developed an audio direction built around subtle electronic textures, responsive interface sounds, and energetic background music designed to match the game’s clean visual style.
For the music, I recommended a three-part structure: a short intro/title screen loop, a longer gameplay music loop, and a softer game-over variation. The title screen direction was centered around a subtle electronic drone, possibly with an echoing heartbeat-like pulse. For gameplay, I suggested an electronic, funky background track that could build energy over time, with the possibility of gradually increasing tempo as play continued. The game-over music was conceived as a lighter, more ambient variation on the gameplay theme.
The sound effects were designed to make the game feel tactile, responsive, and complete. Recommended effects included soft electronic menu clicks, a game-start arpeggio, a loopable countdown tick, quick swipe gestures, a circular swipe with an arcing pitch movement, a short electronic explosion for game over, and a paper-like slide sound for returning to the main menu.
Overall, the project combined electronic music direction with UI-focused sound design, creating an audio palette that supported the game’s pace, player feedback, and visual polish.
